"How much should I sell my DVDs for?" |

Hi Friend,
One of the questions I am asked most frequently is "How much should I sell my DVDs for"?
One of the biggest misconceptions new sellers have is they are going to make $5 - $8 on each DVD they sell. Nothing can be further from the truth. DVDs are the hottest selling item on the internet, but there is a lot of competition.
The DVD movie business is a volume business. It is more realistic to expect a profit of $1 - $3 per DVD. Do you think this sounds like peanuts? Well not if you are movemarz and sell more than 20,000 DVDs a month.
I normally set my listing price a couple dollars above my cost. So if I have a DVD I paid $8.48 for, I'll set the listing price at $9.99. The rest of the money I make on the shipping and handling.
I charge a flat $3.00 to ship one DVD and $2.00 each additional. The actual cost to ship a DVD is $1.59 using airmail provided by USPS. So basically, I make an extra $1.40 per DVD on the shipping and handling.
"Is this ethical", you ask. Of course!
I never mislead my buyers. I always list the Shipping and Handling in full size text right on the auction page. All of my buyers know what they are going to pay before purchasing any of my items.
So at the end of the day, if I have a title that turns out to be a bad seller, I can list it at exactly what I paid for it and still make money on the shipping and handling.
Good luck with your business. If you have any questions, you can
